StudyFlow is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password, which is hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase) and never stored or visible in plain text — including to us. We also collect information you choose to enter into the app, including your name, role (student, teacher or parent), education level, subjects, and study data such as notes, diary entries, assignments and planner entries.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your email address is used only to identify your account, let you log in, and verify actions like password resets. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not send unsolicited emails. Your study data is stored securely on our hosted database and is used to power the features of the app (AI tutor, flashcards, planner, diary, etc.) and to sync your account across your devices.
3. AI Features
If you use AI features (AI Tutor, Homework Scanner, Flashcards, Games), your text is sent to the Anthropic API to generate a response — either through our server, or directly using your own API key if you've added one in Settings. StudyFlow does not otherwise retain this content. Please review Anthropic's privacy policy for how they handle AI inputs.
4. Data Storage
Account data is stored on our hosted database (provided by Supabase), protected by access controls that restrict each account to its own data. A copy of your data is also cached in your browser's local storage on each device you sign in on, purely to make the app fast — the source of truth lives in our database so your account and data are the same across every device.
5. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties. A parent or teacher can only see a student's study data after that student explicitly approves a link request from their own account — nothing is shared automatically.
6. Children's Privacy
StudyFlow is designed for use by students of all ages. We do not knowingly collect data beyond what is entered by the user. Parents can monitor their child's account through the Parent role, but only once the child has approved the link request — nothing is visible beforehand.
7. Your Rights
You can update or delete most of your data directly within the app. To delete your account entirely, contact us and we will remove your account and associated data from our database.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated date above. Continued use of StudyFlow constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
